Fortune Magazines top 100 Best Companies to Work For

YAKIMA, WA – Good things happen in Yakima. On Monday, Jan. 6, Fortune Magazine named Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital one of the top 100 companies to work for in the nation.

More than 1000 companies nationwide applied to be on the distinguished list, but as Anne Caffery, Vice President of Communications and Development says, “Memorial Hospital really deserves it.” Rick Linneweh, President/CEO adds, “This just shows you can do anything. It’s truly the gold medal.”

Yakima Valley Memorial HospitalAlong with Memorial, six other Washington Companies made the list. Memorial is honored to be the only Eastern Washington Company selected.

Of the companies ranked, Memorial Hospital is proud to be near the top of the list for employing the most women. That means of the more than 1,300 employees, 82% are women.

Each year Fortune 500 goes through the process of picking the “best of the best” out of an ever-growing pool of candidates. Among them you’ll find some major corporations such as Starbucks, Microsoft and American Express.

After Memorial Hospital applied to be on the list, employees were asked to fill out a questionnaire on the Fortune 500 website. Most of the weight of the award was based on their response.
